Sunset Beach Pro: 8 Men Advance Through Trials To Earn A Spot In Main Event
Sunset Beach Pro: 8 Men Advance Through Trials To Earn A Spot In Main Event

Monday, 2/10/14

Today marked the start of the men's competition at world-famous Sunset Beach on the North Shore in Hawaii.

Early in the morning the call to run the contest was delayed due to small conditions.  At roughly 10AM that situation changed as the swell increased and provided a plethora of classic sunset rides.  The sets came in at three to five-foot hawaiian (7-10' faces), allowing for clean conditions that only got better throughout the day.

34 men battled it out throughout the day in four or five-man heats, with the top two from each heat advancing on to the next round.

The top eight men at the end of the day advanced to the main event draw which will be held over two days in the week to come.
