Ahh, November. The glorious end of fall, the gut-punching start of winter, the Caribbean coming alive, the North Shore roaring to life, East Coasters either hunkering down for real waves at home or heading out into the world to tackle whatever juice the Northern Hemisphere has to offer… but before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s remember how amazing this past hurricane season was. Five out of six named hurricanes delivered fun, fabulous, and fantastic surf to all corners of our backyard, with only one landfalling American hurricane and two brushing the Lesser Antilles before hitting Bermuda. It was the best of times, it was nowhere near the worst of times, which means our November issue’s annual hurricane photo feature culled from Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Edouard, and Gonzalo — A Beautiful Collection of Epic Glory — is one of the most extravagant in ESM history. On top of that, you can get a head start on this year’s shopping season with our Holiday Buyer’s Guide. So bring it on, winter — but before you do, let’s look back on this summer/fall in wonder.
