“Hurricane Ernesto delivered windows of surfing opportunity that ranged from pristine excellence to windblown wonkiness and a bit of everything else everything in between”. This would be some of that pristine excellence somewhere in south Brevard.
Despite the effects of the Bahama’s Block, a King Tide full moon creating deeper than usual near shore water levels, Hurricane Ernesto still delivered unto south central Brevard County some more than decent windows of surfing opportunity that ranged from pristine excellence to windblown wonkiness and a bit of everything else everything in between.
If you want to know what helped exacerbate the super full tides during the Ernie swell all you had to do was look up into the night sky and peep the near full moon going on during the swell event. @mezapixels
Or, in other words, just what can be expected when an August born and bred tropical entity such as “Uncle Ernie” tracks the Western Atlantic in that particular fashion.
A little bit more of those pristine conditions roping off all by it’s lonesome with only neighbors CJ Hobgood and Surfline’s forecasting vet, Charlie Hutcheson out somewhere in the south end of Brevard. @mezapixels
In the journalistic truth of one photo being worth one thousand words we’ll spare you any more boring verbiage of this already well covered story and get right down to the meat and ‘taters pic’s presented below.

Dig in and hopefully you were out there writing your own story and making good memories of your very own. – Mez –
Meanwhile, a little further down the line in the “South Beaches” Tommy Coleman rose early and shined during Ernesto. @mezapixels
What is the “Bahama Block” ? It’s something that truly sucks if you live in Florida is what it is. While the Carolina’s are copping solid swell for days, south and central Florida especially doesn’t get “oogatz” as Tony Soprano says. We have to wait until the system passes north of the last island and then some before any swell gets into our window. It’s frustrating as all heck but, short of blowing the entire archipelago up, we’re stuck with it especially when it is close to the islands and if it tracks east at all.
Chase Modelski drove up from South FL to pal around with Tommy for a couple of days and flat out ripped the bag out of it whenever and wherever he sessioned. @mezapixels
One thing about chasing waves in August in Florida is it is hot AF! Tommy C. And Chase grabbing some shade before hitting the water which felt like equatorial type heat with the index this day hitting close to 110

Eric Peters back from chaperoning his two very talented groms, Sebastian and Kai out in Cali this summer and giving you a hint at just why the kids are so damn good. @mezapixels

Former World Champ, CJ Hobgood ( pictured above and with GIF sequence below ) has moved back from Orlando and brought a house in the South Beaches of Brevard just a short walk from his new digs. Hey, dudes a rising real estate agent, he knows all about location, location, location, yo. @mezapixels
Tommy Coleman wrapping it up and ….
… breaking out the fins on a frothy one.
The August heat and humidity is no joke along the Central FL coast or anywhere in the southeast especially. If your planning to put some hours in and do multiple sessions come fully prepared. Tommy C. rehydrating and recovering before one more go out.@mezapixels

After surfing his brains out on the lefts and rights of Trestles for a nice chunk of summer, Sebastian Peters knows about down the line surfing, something you only get to do occasionally on days like this at most Floridian beach breaks. @mezapixels
Life, and surfing, is better in a two piece. Especially in 80 degree water. @mezapixels

You’ve been warned… if you are parking along A1A from Spanish House to the other side of the Sebastian Inlet bridge the Sherrif’s who patrol that part of unincorporated Brevard county will be giving expensive citations for doing so as they start to do repairs on the span itself. I got off with a warning from a very nice park official who gave me the heads up on the soon to be new policy. Our tax dollars at work. @mezapixels
Tommy Coleman throwing tail.
Eric Peters takes a casual, wait and see approach to this dreamy Ernesto wall. In these parts, it’s a luxury to be able to slow it down and have such a generous canvas to work with. @mezapixels
Dad passing it down to the next generation. Ya got love it. @mezapixels
Tommy Coleman, tail way high and fangs out. @mezapixels

Chase Modelski’s backside attack is a textbook study in precise timing, perfect form, and flowing body mechanics. Kid got this move on total lock. @mezapixels
There is hardly anything better than walking onto a near deserted beach with nobody around save a fisherman or two with 3-4 foot glassy waves and a lysergic-25 hued sunrise. Ernesto light show in Melbourne Beach as the swell slowly tapered off.@mezapixels
